Film Review: Final Destination: Bloodlines

2 min read

Plagued by a violent recurring nightmare, college student Stefanie heads home to track down the one person who might be able to break the cycle and save her family from the grisly demise that inevitably awaits them all.” – Warner Bro’s UK

Snapshot Review: It’s been 14 years since the previous film in the Final Destination franchise (2011’s Final Destination 5), and die-hard fans will be happy that the essential formula (small group of people trying to escape pending death after one of them has a premonition) hasn’t changed significantly.  The special effects have significantly improved since the last instalment and the death scenes are creative, realistic and…pretty gruesome. This may turn some people off, but this is essentially the appeal of this franchise and it doesn’t disappoint. The large-scale opening sequence in a space needle type skyscraper is heart stopping and exhilarating. The rest of the film falls in line as expected, and the death scenes, if that’s your bag, are very satisfying. Not wanting to take itself TOO seriously, it doesn’t leave out the cheeky bit of humour that make this horror franchise so entertaining, and makes this one of the best in the series.
