EP Review: Chris Carmack – Pieces Of You
2 min readChris Carmack is a man of many talents; he’s a former model, currently on TV and has now delved into music. He played Luke Ward in TV series The O.C, and he stars in ABC’s country music drama Nashville. As a singer/songwriter and guitarist, Carmack has been itching to showcase his music; to do that he’s unveiled his debut EP Pieces Of You.
Carmack’s sound can be as smooth as butter and sometimes gritty: he can be quite versatile. Debut single Being Alone is a gentle country/pop ballad that touches your heart with its warmth. Chris sure knows how to croon. Always Mine is a soft touch and you can definitely hear jazz influences; with a smooth bass line, the edgy guitar riff and the introductory percussive beat.
The guitar line in the verses of What Has Changed is funky, but it soon makes way for an explosive chorus that leaves you wanting more. If there was one song to focus on it would be Pieces Of You; it has that nature that grips you from beginning to end, its atmosphere is so intimate. For something grittier and upbeat you would turn to the country/rock infused Can’t Do It Again.
Chris Carmack truly is a talent; his Pieces Of You EP is mellow, exciting and overall a decent listen. You can definitely tell Carmack has the passion for it: he wrote all of the songs himself and his guitar playing is commendable. Definitely one to add to the ‘awesome’ pile!
