News: Electro Pop Band Yelle Announce Aussie Tour

2 min read

(AUS) Electro pop French musicians Yelle are returning to tour Australia this March. Co-founded by Yelle, nee Julie Budet, and producer Grand Marnier (Jean-Francois Perrier), the pair will play shows in Perth, Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne in support of their brand new album, Complètement fou. Tickets for all shows are on sale today. For complete tour and ticketing details visit here.

Yelle first arrived amid a flurry of 80s inspired pop, with the likes of CSS and New Young Pony Club all revered for their take on brightly coloured electro. The band’s first album, Pop-Up, stood out from the crowd with its wry, frothy and unashamedly fun outlook. And now, nearly a decade after forming in 2005, they’re releasing an album produced by Dr. Luke and his team. See?

Complètement fou. If you’ve got even a barely passable grasp on functional French then you’ll know what those two words mean. Bonkers. Bananes. Completely crazy. It’s a phrase that not only goes a long way to describing the gleefully mad electronic pop of Yelle – it also applies to the group’s unusual rise. They have taken their time between neon-streaked albums, sung every fizzy song in their native tongue, poked fun at their peers, and stayed clear of trends.

“We just do things we love,” says Yelle. “This is the only rule we have. At the end of the day this is what makes Yelle: Spontaneity.”

It is hard to think of another current artist who has managed to go global the way Yelle have. They have captured fans around the world with a winning formula of danceable music and sassy French lyrics. Don’t miss them when they hit Australia this March!
