As fans prepare themselves for the eagerly awaited new album from Balham boys Turin Brakes at the end of the month, reflection is upon us here at Renowned For Sound as we name the Mercury Music Prize nominees as our latest Feature Artist.

The band – which consists of Olly Knights and Gale Paridjanian, as well as long term collaborators-turned-full time members Rob Allum and Eddie Myer, have offered their fans 7 studio records in the 15 years that Olly and Gale have been steering the Turin Brakes ship. Their catalogue has offered music fans a pedigree of songwriting and musical skill that is a rare commodity in the music industry and a quality that has seeped through each of their releases, helping shape a successful career and grow their international fan-base into a cult-like following.

The foursome are gearing up for the release of their brand new album, Lost Property which comes two years after their last studio effort, 2013’s We Were Here, and 15 years after the bands monumental breakthrough debut, The Optimist LP. Fronted by lead single ’96, Turin Brakes are showing no signs of slowing down any time soon – in fact, Lost Property delivers one of the finest collections to date for the UK folk-rockers and marks a brand new, heavyweight chapter for the band.

To celebrate the release of Lost Property, we thought it only right to celebrate the career of one of the most influential folk/rock outfits of the past 20 years by taking a traipse through some of the bands most inspiring hits. Join us now as we count down our all time favourite 5 songs from Turin Brakes…
