News: Comedian Chelsea Handler Announces Australian Tour

2 min read

(AUS) Superstar US comedian, author and talk show host, Chelsea Handler, is heading to Australia in November for a national stand-up comedy tour of her new live show, Uganda Be Kidding Me, taking the show to Sydney, Perth, Brisbane and Melbourne.

Chelsea Handler, perhaps best known as the outspoken host of her late night talk show, Chelsea Lately where she remains the only female in the male-heavy late night arena, brings her live stand up show to Australia hot off a 37-date tour of the US.

Having recently announced she will depart the E! US cable network in August after seven years as the host of Chelsea Lately, Handler has signed with Netflix to produce comedy specials and a talk show from 2016.

Featured in TIME Magazine’s 2012 The World’s 100 Most Influential People, the self-made Handler is a cultural phenomenon whose business savvy is matched only by her comedic talents.

Her November tour will be a welcome return for Handler who last visited Australia in 2011 to film several episodes of Chelsea Lately. Known for her fearless honesty and tongue-in-cheek commentary, Handler will be touring the live show in support of her fifth book Uganda Be Kidding Me, which was released earlier this year. In this hilarious and absurd collection of travel essays Chelsea delivers some of her favourite stories while also giving travellers her (not to be believed) guide to etiquette, hot spots, and answers to some of the most asked travel questions.

“I’ve decided to go on tour and support my new book, Uganda Be Kidding Me. I think we all know how much I love the sound of my own voice,” said Handler.

A leading nonfiction author, Handler had three books ranked at #1, #2, and #3 on the Bestseller Lists simultaneously on March 28, 2010 and currently has four bestselling books in print. Three of her books also all debuted at #1 on the New York Times Bestseller List.

In 2010 her ‘Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang’ US stand up tour was extended three times, grossing more than $16 million. In 2011, her ‘Lies That Chelsea Handler Told Me’ tour sold out in the top 20 markets in the US.

Don’t miss this exclusive first-time opportunity to see Chelsea Handler live in Australia this November.
