(AUS) Mike Rosenberg, aka Passenger, today announced he will be bringing his Whispers Tour to Australia and New Zealand for a run of national capital city and regional dates in January and February, 2015.
2012 and 2013 were watermark years for the acoustic folk troubadour and included sold out tours in the UK, Europe, Australia and the US, over 6.5 million single sales, No. 1 singles in 21 countries, numerous Top 10 album chart positions, 1.2 million album sales and, of course, a whole lot of busking.
Passenger’s new single, Heart’s On Fire, was recently added to radio stations across the country and is the first single from his new album, Whispers, set for Australian release on 6 June, 2014. The album was recorded with long-term collaborator Chris Vallejo and is the follow-up to All The Little Lights, which was driven by the global smash Let Her Go – the 3rd highest selling single in Australia last year and had, at last count, over 285 million views on YouTube.
Whispers is Passenger’s sixth studio album and its oldest songs date back to before the mayhem began. The album’s grandest love song is probably Heart’s On Fire, which starts out sparse on finger picked guitar and builds in to a dramatic, passionate, strings-soaked plea to the person you can’t get out of your head. Close your eyes and you can picture it being played by an orchestra at the Sydney Opera House or Royal Albert Hall.
