Top 10 The Big Reunion 2014 Hits

4 min read

With 90’s pop acts Eternal, Damage, Kavana, Adam Rickett, Kenzi from Blazin’ Squad, A1, Girl Thing, Gareth Gates and Dane Bowers from Another Level deciding that it was time to pick up the microphones once again for their fans as well as to introduce their hits to a whole new generation, the brand new batch of acts have reunited as part of this years The Big Reunion.

We take a look at our Top 10 favorite hits from the groups of this years line-up. Join us as we take a trip down memory lane…

10. 5th Story (Kavana) – I Can Make You Feel Good

Though he didn’t find a long-lasting nesting spot in pop music in the 90’s before things went a little sour for the handsome lad from Manchester, the singers Top 10 hit had all the ingredients to make us feel good during 1997.

9. Eternal – Power Of A Woman

With Girl Power causing havoc and making waves in music throughout the 90’s thanks to the Spice Girls, Eternal took the plunge into the movement and delivered this powerful, driven monster of a hit for the female sex and it remains one of the groups most memorable and successful hit singles.

8.  A1 – Same Old Brand New You

One of the groups early hits and delivered during A1’s peak in 2000, the track was the second number one hit for the group from their 2nd studio album and still gets the toes tapping, particularly during the songs uplifting power-pop chorus.

7. 5th Story (Adam Rickett) – I Breathe Again

Coronation Street heartthrob and blonde pin-up Adam Rickett certainly got our hearts racing in the nineties with his slick moves and saucy videos, particularly the clip for this track where he was featured ‘naked’ in a glass chamber. Not entirely convincing or respectable for the lad who has confessed to feeling uncomfortable during his rise in pop but we are a huge fan of this track which was an enormous club hit during the nineties and early noughties.

6. A1 – Caught In The Middle

This hit for the lads indicated a more matured and DIY age for A1 with the introduction of instruments in place of the cheesy dance moves that the revitalized band were famous for. A huge hit for the foursome, the track is a perfectly structured and incredibly catchy acoustic guitar driven smash for A1 that has certainly stood the test of time.

5. Girl Thing – Last One Standing

The short-lived fivesome may be considered a flash in the pan outfit that was created to stroke the ego of unfortunate music mogul Simon Cowell but this song proves the girls of Girl Thing were able to deliver a catchy pop track ideal for the market at the time, despite not hitting the expected number one chart position upon release. This one still gets a regular spin on the Renowned For Sound iPod to this day and is the perfect injection of bubblegum pop to any glum day.

4. 5th Story (Dane Bowers – Another Level) – Be Alone No More

You certainly know you have a hit on your hands when hip hop royal Jay Z wants to open one of your singles. Though Jay Z may not remember featuring on Another Level’s debut single in 1998, it was certainly an achievement for the rising RnB quartet who went on to claim several future hits off the back of this fantastic hit.

3. Eternal – Don’t You Love Me

Our Big Reunion favourites have to take up a couple of spots on this years countdown and this song shows just why that is. The list would not be complete without the addition of this 1997 RnB smash from the groups third studio album.

2. 5th Story (Kavana) – Will You Wait For Me

We had a bit of a crush on Kavana back in the day and it is so good to have him back with us to perform hits from his heyday once again. This one was a hit for the brunette pin-up in early ’99 and is still a guaranteed tearjerker all these years after. Built over a memorable piano backbone, the singers vocals are tight and dripping in sentiment and soul. An absolutely exquisite track!

1. Eternal – Stay

Stay was Eternal’s phenomenal debut single and the track was, in our opinion, the finest vocal performance of the then four-pieces time in the spotlight. With a catchy chorus, a slick and smooth melody and Easther ripping through the track like no other singer of the time, Stay is our favorite song from the bands that have created this years line-up of The Big Reunion.
