Single Review: Tove Lo – ‘Talking Body’

2 min read

Swedish singer/songwriter Tove Lo is on the rise, her 2013 single Habits gave her music the attention it needed to further her career in mainstream music, which also helped her EP Truth Serum earn some success; not to mention her impressive writing resume, having written for the likes of Cher Lloyd and The Saturdays (plus more). Her debut album Queen of the Clouds was released last September, which we loved here on Renowned For Sound; she has just released Talking Body as the second single, and we’re excited to share it with you!

Tove Lo - Talking BodyIn terms of sound and vibe, Tove’s approach to pop is unique, the percussive taps throughout the verses really enable focus on the lyrics and nature of the song; which brings us to what is typical of today’s mainstream music. Talking Body is a song of lust, an itch for a physical involvement where the protagonist’s potential bed buddy has the perfect body to put on her; all concepts aside, you will not be able to deny that you were singing along with its synth-induced and hooky chorus after your initial listen, and the video is just as addictive to watch.

Talking Body is undoubtedly a good move to be the singer’s next single, it’s a catchy number and it simply belongs in the pool of today’s popular mainstream pop tracks; when Queen of the Clouds was reviewed on this site we mentioned that the track is an album highlight, that’s still true. There is something about Tove Lo that makes it hard for the listener not to be hooked somehow, Talking Body definitely captivates you from the first listen.
