Single Review: Tina Arena – ‘It Wouldn’t Be Love If It Didn’t’

1 min read

Last year Australian pop songstress Tina Arena was inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame. A new rendition of her 1994 hit single Chains featuring Jessica Mauboy and The Veronicas also crawled up the charts; released to coincide with her induction. Now Arena has released It Wouldn’t Be Love If It Didn’t as the next single from her album Eleven; a record we at Renowned For Sound absolutely adored.

Tina Arena ElevenAs opposed to its explosive predecessor I Want To Love You, the aura of It Wouldn’t Be Love If It Didn’t is a little gentler. What’s really commendable is Tina’s ability to express every emotion in every lyric; the piano, strings and a steady beat really help back up her heartfelt performance. Not to mention the song’s overall relatable theme; the ups and downs of love and identifying that it wouldn’t be love if it didn’t hurt and/or feel right.

Tina Arena doesn’t need overproduced arrangements or clichéd lyrics to release a beautiful ballad as a single. It Wouldn’t Be Love If It Didn’t has potential to be used for an advertisement of a drama series; even to be the new ‘go-to’ song when determining where you feel emotionally in a relationship. Adele’s not the only singer producing the heartfelt goods; Tina’s here too.
