Single Review: The Script – ‘Rain’

After almost a year in hiatus and a few teasers from their upcoming fifth studio album, The Script have released Rain.  The accompanying music video employs the somber storytelling we normally hear from the Script, but goodness are you in for a treat when the beat kicks in.

The song opens with lead vocalist Danny O’Donoghue’s bewitching voice paired with the piano – beautiful, but nothing out of the ordinary here.  In the space of a heartbeat the band instantly turn this into an irresistible dance tune you just know will be played heavily on every radio station for the rest of 2017.

The Script have defined Rain as a ‘feel-good summer track’ and they couldn’t have hit the nail on the head harder if they’d tried.

Tucked beneath the dancing beat is a love story with lyrics that contradict the ‘feel-good’ bouncy instrumentation.  It’s this depth and their eagerness to adapt that will keep The Script’s music alive for years to come.
