Single Review: Jessie J – ‘Real Deal’

Jessie J has been pretty quiet since her last album, Sweet Talk, back in 2014. A year later she recorded Flashlight for the Pitch Perfect 2 soundtrack, but since then she’s been on hiatus. Her latest track, Real Deal, has been released in partnership with M&M and Incredibox. A snippet of the song was available to unlock after playing a game on Bite Size Beats.
As Jessie J has described, this song has an amazing “summer vibe” fit for romances in the flaming sun, encouraging listeners to “believe in love” during the bridge. A slight turn from her usual pop hits, the track has elements of old school R&B and hip hop.
Real Deal has some hard-hitting drums, and Jessie J’s soulful voice delivers uplifting lyrics that will improve your mood, instantly earning its place on your playlist reserved for sunny days.
Sadly this is not part of an upcoming album, though her tweet claiming this track is her “getting warmed up” is encouraging.
