Single Review: Icona Pop – ‘All Night’
2 min readIcona Pop is one of 2013’s biggest breakthrough acts thanks to the Swedish duo’s thumping power-dance hit, I Love It which paired them up with electro-pop songwriting powerhouse, Charlie XCX.
With an album, This Is….Icona Pop, soon to be released, the duo deliver another single to tease fans in the tasty form of All Night and if I Love It and All Night are anything to go by, the bands forthcoming album is set to be a hit-heavy beauty of a release for the Swedes.
A similar electro-pop vein that was first heard on I Love It runs through this new track with the backbone of the song consisting of grinding synths and a club-friendly retro soaking. The girls’ signature vocal layering is thrown over All Night in the same way as their debut single and usually this would seem unoriginal and ‘done already’ but not with Icona Pop who give the delivery of All Night a fresh pop fuelled bite after the dreamy, almost balladic opening is overtaken by the tracks energetic, party driven sensibilities.
The track is a killer single for the girls and will undoubtedly get pop fans salivating at the thought of the duo’s recently announced album release which is set to land in late September.
