Single Review: Carrie Underwood – ‘Smoke Break’

Carrie Underwood fans, rejoice! Recently the seven-time Grammy award winner spilled the beans about her upcoming fifth studio album, Storyteller, and the excitement is real. Due to drop on October 23rd it give fans of the country superstar something to look forward to, but in the meantime lead single Smoke Break should suffice prior to release day.

Country music is no stranger to the ‘hard done by’ concept, which Smoke Break is all about. It is written in a way that is relatable, you may or may not have four mouths to feed as described in the song, but you might still be tired and dragged down enough to warrant that little bit of time for yourself. In terms of the track’s vibe, it’s nothing groundbreaking or too unique, but it’s still a catchy and addictive dose of country, so if you’re a major fan of the genre you won’t hesitate to add it to your playlist; country radio is bound to eat it all up too due to its explosive chorus and its charm.

Carrie Underwood is working her magic once again, Smoke Break is bound to get stuck in your head after a while and is a great track to lead the new album. Hardcore Underwood fans will have their appetites satisfied, radio will have a new hit on rotation and who knows, maybe another Grammy award nomination on the cards for Carrie.
