Soul music has always had a special place in the British music scene’s heart, despite its deep American roots. Today it continues to thrive amongst a new generation. At the vanguard of this scene is London based singer/songwriter Danny Toeman, who nods his head to all the greats that formed his childhood vinyl education, but delivers his powerful sound with a capital DT.
You might already be familiar with Danny’s music. BBC Introducing have programmed his songs on numerous occasions throughout their network. The popular video game series Rockband contains two Danny-penned tracks available as downloadable content. Abercrombie & Fitch were certainly interested; within a month of its release, the song ‘When the Lights Go Down’ was licensed by the clothing brand to feature on the in-store playlist of their worldwide lingerie and swimwear brand, Gilly Hicks.

With his fanbase rapidly on the rise thanks to constant performing and support slots for soul greats including Robert Cray, Charles Bradley, Roachford, & Betty Wright, 2014 sees the long promised release of the strikingly compelling ‘The Way It Seems’.
‘The Way It Seems’ is an eclectic collection that is honest and reflective, yet uplifting and heartfelt; from the sharp Neo-vintage grooves of ‘That Sinking Feeling’ and impassioned pleas of ‘Layin’ It On The Line’ through to the tender reflection of ‘Everybody Says I’m Wrong’, the stark revelations of ‘Reaching Out’ and the rousing ‘Conspiracy’.
Combining the production values of Tamla Motown, the sincerity and passion of southern soul, and the funky showmanship of James Brown, the record is marshalled by the exciting and versatile vocals that sets Danny apart from his contemporaries.
