News: Sheppard Announce US Summer Headline Tour

2 min read

(US) Following their sold-out run on Meghan Trainor’s “That Bass” tour, ARIA Award-winning indie/pop band Sheppard will return to the U.S. for their very own headline tour this summer. After a string of radio shows and a special night at The Roxy in LA June 8, Sheppard will return to the U.S. to kick off a series of dates beginning July 22nd in NY at Webster Hall. The band is also slated to perform at Lollapalooza [7/31] and Austin City Limits [10/2 & 10/9].

Yesterday, Sheppard was presented with a RIAA certified platinum plaque for their breakthrough single “Geronimo” live on CBS’ The Talk. Watch their performance on the show HERE. An international smash, “Geronimo” recently impacted American Top 40 radio, making Sheppard the “third Australian group to impact Top 40 in the 21st century” alongside 5 Seconds of Summer and Jet. The track is available on their full-length debut, Bombs Away [School Boy Records/Republic Records], out now.

The band’s international success follows the mammoth reception Sheppard have received at home in Australia, where they were recently nominated for 7 ARIA awards, winning the award for ‘Best Group’. “Geronimo” was the highest selling single of 2014 in Australia, where it is certified five times platinum. The band’s Australian debut album, Bombs Away, has attained gold status, remaining atop the ARIA charts since release. “Geronimo” is a Top 10 European airplay record, garnering radio play in 50 countries, as well as reaching the Top 10 on the singles chart in over 12 countries. What’s more, the single is approaching 130 million Spotify streams worldwide. The hometown heroes also recently garnered a nomination for “Song of the Year” and won for “Pop Work of the Year” and “Most Played Australian Work” at Australia’s APRA Music Awards.
