1 min read
(U.S) Following her spellbinding performance of “Dark Horse” on this year’s Grammy Awards, Katy Perry locks in her 9th Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 with the song. Katy’s other Hot 100 champs are: “I Kissed a Girl” (2008), “California Gurls” feat. Snoop Dogg, “Teenage Dream,” “Firework” (2010), “E.T.,” featuring Kanye West, “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)” (2011), “Part of Me” (2012) and “Roar” (2013).   As of this week, Katy becomes the only artist to have risen to No. 1 in each year of the current decade.

“This #1 is the most unexpected one I’ve ever had,” states Katy. “Dark Horse” has been a dark horse of a song, since August when the KatyCats voted to release it early on iTunes, before PRISM even came out. I’m so thrilled and grateful to have these moments.”

Up next Katy is starting rehearsals for her major PRISMATIC WORLD TOUR, which begins in Britain on May 7, before coming to North America on June 22 for four months. Tickets for the North American arena dates went on sale this Monday, and due to overwhelming public demand the 46 shows have become 62.  Katy will be touring in support of PRISM, which debuted at number 1 on The Billboard 200 and remains in the Top Ten three months after release.  The platinum album also features the Grammy nominated single “Roar” which has now sold over 9 million downloads around the world.
