News: Hozier Confirms Return For Aussie Tour

3 min read

(AUS) Following the huge worldwide response to debut artist, Hozier, and the monumental reaction to his smash hit and viral sensation Take Me To Church, Chugg Entertainment and Lunatic Entertainment can now announce that a return tour has been confirmed for October. On his recent debut on Australian shores earlier this month, his throngs of fans were treated to a heart-achingly deep and fathomless performance with his Bluesfest slot drawing crowds of over 10,000 punters.

Early 2015 saw the then little-known Irish artist ascend to worldwide notoriety with a subsequent first time visit to Australia. A festival appearance at Byron Bay’s iconic Bluesfest was confirmed, as well as intimate headline dates at Melbourne’s Corner Hotel and the Metro Theatre in Sydney. With the huge support behind Hozier from commercial radio and other media outlets alike, these shows sold out in a matter of minutes and the legions of empty handed fans were left longing for another opportunity to see this ground-breaking artist. In the wake of Hozier’s debut appearance in the country for these shows, it’s with great pleasure we can confirm the following return dates for later in 2015.

A lot can happen in a few months, and though Andrew Hozier Byrne’s musical past is longer and richer than his tender 24 years suggest, his ascension into the mainstream consciousness has swept across Australia, and the world, at breakneck speed. Since announcing his first ever Australian appearances in early February, he’s performed at the GRAMMYS with Scottish heroine Annie Lennox (watch HERE) as well as being nominated for the distinguished Song Of The Year award, performed on BBC’s Live Lounge for the second time with a cover of Ariana Grande’s smash hit Problem (watch HERE) and has been honoured by such artists as Ellie Goulding with the release of her Take Me To Church cover (listen HERE) with nearly 4 million listens in just a few days, as well as the release of the stunning video of Ukrainian ballet dancer, Sergei Polunin performing an exquisitely choreographed routine to Take Me To Church in a video directed by David LaChappelle (watch HERE).

2013 saw the release of Hozier’s debut EP Take Me To Church, featuring the breakthrough single of the same name. Since then, with a second EP From Eden and the 2014 release of his debut self-titled LP, tastemakers and critics have wholeheartedly embraced his spirited and soulful sound. Locally, the album has hit #1 on the iTunes Chart and #3 on the ARIA charts and is now certified gold. Take Me To Church is now certified four times platinum, reaching #2 on the ARIA singles charts, #1 on the iTunes chart and #1 on the Australian Radio Airplay Charts. The new single Someone New was serviced to media on 19 March and is being added to radio across the country. The video for the track features Game Of Thrones star Natalie Dormer and has already received 7 million views since premiering.

With so many countless fans missing out on seeing Hozier live on this brief Easter visit, here now is your chance to witness the grandeur and yet deeply intimate nature of this extraordinary artist.
