News: Daughtry Release Details Of New Single And UK Show Date

2 min read

(U.K) Multi-platinum recording artist Daughtry are thrilled to bring their electrifying live show back to the UK later this year for show at London Roundhouse on Sunday 12th October following a sold out tour in March and the release of their new album ‘Baptized’. And to celebrate they have released the anthemic track ‘Battleships’ through all download platforms.

Daughtry’s sold UK tour earlier this year included two dates at Shepherd’s Bush Empire, which sold out immediately. The new London show follows a massive tour across the US and is preceded by a European run of shows including dates in Germany and Sweden. Baptized is their fourth full-length studio album and signals a rebirth for Chris and the band. Motivated by intensely creative writing sessions with the likes of Martin Johnson [Boys Like Girls], Sam Hollander [Gym Class Heroes, Coheed and Cambria] and Claude Kelly [Bruno Mars, Whitney Houston], the singer, songwriter and musician quickly discovered the direction of its latest body of work.

Chris and the band have been on quite a hot streak since their 2006 self-titled became the fastest-selling rock debut in Soundscan history, and was certified four times platinum in the US. 2009’s Leave This Town gave them their second consecutive No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200, while Break The Spell reached gold status in merely four weeks of release in 2011. Throughout, they achieved four No. 1 hits in the US (and 9 top 10s), as well as four Grammy Award nominations, four American Music Awards wins, six Billboard Music Awards, and seven BMI Awards. Meanwhile, sales exceeded 7.5 million albums and 17 million singles.  Outside of music, Chris continues to give back to various charities including an ambassadorship with DC Comics We Can Be Heroes campaign, fighting hunger in the horn of Africa.

The single “Battleships” is a song co-written by Chris Daughtry for his band’s fourth studio album, Baptized (2014). The song is a pop rock power ballad that describes a tempestuous, conflict-riddled relationship wherein the narrator and his significant other “love like battleships” It is certainly one of the most strongly pop-influenced songs on the album, which Chris acknowledges is a natural progression for him as a songwriter:

“I love the stuff that’s out on the radio. I’ve always been a sucker for pop melodies [] I love the Katy Perry stuff, Pink, Imagine Dragons, even Mumford & Sons and the Lumineers, so [my album has] all these aspects of everything I love that’s out there. I wanted to experiment a little bit with those kind of sounds and incorporate it in what we do.”
