News: Basement Jaxx Announce New Album and North America Tour Dates

2 min read

(U.S) Following their electrifying live performance at this year’s Ultra Music Festival in Miami this past March, Basement Jaxx — the legendary producer duo of Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe–are scheduled to return to North America this summer for a short run of exclusive DJ club dates.  Beginning July 11 at 333 in Los Angeles, the duo will also appear at Public Works July 12 in San Francisco, Verboten July 16 in New York and The Hoxton July 17 in Toronto.  At these shows, they will highlight music from their upcoming new album Junto, due for release on August 26 via Atlantic Jaxx/PIAS, alongside some of their previous catalogue and other treasured dance floor cuts.

Junto marks Basement Jaxx’s seventh studio album and the title, which translates from Spanish as together, sums up the spirit of the record and the very essence of the Jaxx’s desire to unify people with their music. With this album,” says Felix Buxton, “we wanted to do something that felt more at one with the world.” This approach is reflected in the titles of “Power To The People,” “We Are Not Alone” and “Love Is At Your Side,” as well as the uplifting “Never Say Never” and the throwback fun of “What’s The News” and “Sneakin’ Toronto.”  Other tracks from their first official album release in nearly four years are “Mermaid Of Salinas” and the club-ready, jacking “Unicorn”–which has already met with universal praise–and will be available as an instant download with every pre-order of the digital album.  Junto is available for pre order now.

Released exclusively on Beatport via Toolroom Records is the Mark Knight remix of “Never Say Never” from Junto– a track destined to ignite dancefloors around the globe this summer. Look for the original version of “Never Say Never” to be released prior to the album as its first official single.

The last few years have seen the pair take time out to write not one but two film scores (“Attack The Block” and “The Hooping Life”) as well as producing an orchestral album in collaboration with the Metropole Orkest. In 2013 they teased out new music in the form of two tropical cuts “Back 2 The Wild” and “What A Difference Your Love Makes” and played a number of their legendary carnival-esque live shows.
