News: AJR Announce First Ever Visit To Australia

1 min read

(AUS) New York pop wunderkinds AJR today took to social media to announce their first ever visit to Australian shores. Click here to see the video the group posted to Facebook. The three piece, brothers Adam, Ryan and Jack Met, whose breakthrough single ‘I’m Ready’ has recently achieved Platinum status locally, will be here in late September to make a number of media appearances, including a rumoured live performance.

‘I’m Ready’ has proved a smash with Australian audiences, going Top 5 in the ARIA Charts and Top 10 in the Airplay Charts; not bad for a song written and recorded in their family living room in Chelsea, NYC.

In fact, the roots of AJR’s success have a distinctly Australian connection. While sitting in a psychology class at Columbia University, a bored Ryan tweeted the just-completed video for ‘I’m Ready’ to 80 celebrities. The first to react was an impressed Sia Furler, who passed the clip on to her manager. He then passed the clip on to Steve Greenberg, label boss of S-Curve Records and the man credited with discovering such acts as Hanson, Joss Stone and Jonas Brothers. Greenberg promptly became their co-manager.

Fast forward less than 18 months, and AJR find themselves touring the world in support of what will doubtlessly prove to be one of the year’s finest pop moments.
