Single Review: Miike Snow – ‘Paddling Out’

2 min read

Miike Snow (yes, there is supposed to be two ‘i’s in the name) present to us their lead single to be taken from the forthcoming parent album, Happy To You.

MiikeSnowPaddlingOutThe Swedish electro-pop outfit made up of Christian Karlsson, Andrew Wyatt and Pontus Winnberg, are no strangers to the limelight. The lads debut self titled album received positive reviews the world over and created a buzz around the new collective upon its release back in 2009.

Before Miike Snow, Karlsson and Winnberg has a successful producer/songwriter partnership under the name of Bloodshy & Avant and not only worked with some of the top names in the industry including Madonna and Kylie Minogue but the pair also won a Grammy award for their collaboration on Britney Spears’ Toxic before meeting American songwriter Andrew Wyatt and forming Miike Snow.

The single that is paving the way for the release of the bands latest electro-pop outing is Paddling Out and the track comes with a few surprises.

Keys take the opening reigns as the band guide us into a track that unfolds as a catchy nugget of genre fusion. Over the course of four minutes we are taken on a journey through electronic experimentation, lyrical deliciousness and some nostalgic, indie coated vocals.

Continuing the same success created by a debut record can be a pretty tough thing to accomplish and a lot of pressure comes with the task. With Paddling Out Miike Snow have nothing to worry about as we are presented with a track fitting for international radio play and a track that slots in very nicely within what we have come to love about all things Miike Snow.
