Album Review: StreetDance 3D – Soundtrack

The big film of the moment in the spirit of previous hits such as Save The Last Dance and Honey is new dance flick StreetDance and the highly anticipated 3D extravaganza is paired with an equally impressive soundtrack which hits the record stores today.

The soundtrack is a collection of well fitting floor fillers from the cream of the UK’s current music crop.

StreedanceArtists including Tinie Tempah, Pixie Lott, Lethal Bizzle, Fatboy Slim and Sugababes all play a vital part here in the combination of the up-tempo body moving tracks found on this compilation.

The featured songs flow from hit to hit with not one track falling out of place or feeling like it just doesn’t fit. Most of the songs on the record have already been huge successes for the artists here – Cheryl Cole’s Fight For The Love is one of the big players and has been given a beat heavy makeover by remix maestros Crazy Cousins giving this version a life of its own along with not one but two N-Dubz numbers – Strong Again and new single We Dance On.

Daniel Merriweathers impressive Cash In My Pocket, Sugababes seductive club hit Get Sexy and Ironik’s (Elton John sampled) Tiny Dancer (Hold Me Closer) are also prominent limelight seekers on the collection and work nicely among the hip hop heavy soundtrack.

Surprisingly the standout on this collection comes in the form of relatively unknown Aggro Santos’ track Candy. Its undoubtedly the most infectious and fun song on the soundtrack.

The album is quite urban with little of an offering outside of upbeat RnB flows or regenerated pop remixes.

I was fairly skeptical about the album before taking a listen because of a lot of the acts within the collection not being my personal favourites but listening to the album really does get you in the mood for hitting the clubs. It’s a fun collection with some fantastic remixes of old and new and well worth the consideration.
