Single Review: Pitbull feat. Ke$ha – ‘Timber’

2 min read

Whether you’re a fan of his music or not, it’s impossible to deny the charismatic charm of Pitbull. While he’s solely commandeered the ship of generic pop beats in recent years, his songs still manage to get stuck in your head, for better or for worse.

Pitbull-Timber-2013-1200x1200Timber is, in no way, an exception to this. Adding Ke$ha, another viable pop star, to the equation makes for a dynamic that allows the three and half minute song to remain somewhat bearable.

However, the song is largely forgettable. The melody sounds as generic as they come. Luckily Pitbull and Ke$ha each carry enough of a distinctive voice to give the song some semblance of originality. Lyrically though, the song is completely laughable. The chorus is just another romp about downing shots and dancing the night away. The song’s title Timber, refers to the fact that “it’s going down,” clever right?

Like all of Pitbull’s certified anthems, Timber will leave you with a pulsating club-ready beat, perfect for any situation in need of a boost of energy. Musically though, the track doesn’t offer more than that. While Pitbull’s tracks top the charts time and time again, his firing power is losing substance. His tracks, along with his name, are quickly becoming forgettable. The only thing going down around here is Pitbull’s credibility as a musician.
