Single Review: Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds – ‘In The Heat Of The Moment’

2 min read

It’s been smooth sailing for singer/songwriter Noel Gallagher since his 2009 departure from Oasis, he formed his new band Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds back in 2010 and released his self-titled debut solo album in 2011. Much to his new fandom’s delight, album number two is set for release next year; Chasing Yesterday is due to land in March 2015, and its lead single In The Heat Of The Moment will be released this month to get us pumped.

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds-In The Heat Of The MomentA steady beat kicks off the track, followed by its ‘na na na na na’ hook, from the first line it was already looking like In The Heat Of The Moment was going to be a decent track; Gallagher’s smooth and addictive vocal line carries the verse driven by the light clap from the drums, the strumming of a warm sounding guitar, the earthy bass and the subtlety of the keys. The chorus has a classic/alternative rock vibe to it, its soundscape perfects the modern take on the genre, easily competing with similar tracks of this nature that dominate the charts. The track overall is catching, it won’t be long before you’re singing and humming along.

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds are an exciting act to devote some time listening to, their sound has a way of dragging you in and won’t let you go. In The Heat Of The Moment has the right method and ingredients to complete the recipe of a great rock track, and it sure makes us intrigued for Chasing Yesterday next year. Gallagher’s post-Oasis direction has truly taken course and can only prosper from here.
