Single Review: Kings of Leon – Supersoaker

1 min read

Kings of Leon’s new single Supersoaker is the answer to rock ‘n’ roll prayers, with the band returning to deliver a sound comparable to that from their iconic second album Aha Shake Heartbreak. Supersoaker is the first taste of the quartet’s upcoming sixth album, Mechanical Bull.

KingsofLeonSuperSoakerOpening with a strong guitar riff before presenting some fast tempo drumming, the track instantly sounds like a classic Kings of Leon hit completed with the introduction of Caleb Followill’s celebrated husky voice.

The song is a fast paced rock ‘n’ roll gem dripping in unique Kings of Leon style with its dirty, raw sound, tricky guitar work and an infectious chorus. While it may not blow up in the same way their 2008 hit Sex on Fire did, long-time fans should not be disappointed with their newest song, which is sure to gain them many new adorers.

The ability to evolve without completely re-inventing a sound is one not every band can boast, but Kings of Leon appear to possess this ability, showing signs from their older and newer material in Supersoaker. The upcoming album is set to be another successful item in the Kings of Leon catalogue if the rest of it is anything like the promising Supersoaker.
