Single Review: Rosanna – ‘Waterfall’

Sweden’s latest pop starlet, Rosanna, is set to ignite UK radio waves over the coming months in the build up to the blonde beauties debut album.
Originally signed by Tommy Motola at the young age of thirteen to Columbia records, Rosanna is no stranger to chart success, having been a member of the one million selling group Play who toured with Destiny’s Child, before returning to Sweden to focus on music college and a solo career.
Now in 2010, Rosanna’s hard work is finally paying off as she sets her sights on stardom and chart topping indulgence.
Fronting the forthcoming album release the singer has chosen Waterfall, an incredibly catchy and captivating slice of hook heavy pop wonder.
Sweden is known for producing pop music of such a high caliber with the likes of Roxette, Abba, The Cardigans and Ace of Base all carrying the Swedish flag of mainstream musical success. Rosanna is set to become a welcoming addition to that league of Sweden’s greatest musical exports.
Rosanna’s voice is strong and versatile and sounds extremely close to the distinct vocals of fellow Swedish electro-pop songstress, Robyn. Waterfall is a well crafted and charismatic debut for the singer.
The singers emotionally charged and synth-bouncy vocals sweep from upbeat pop princess in the verses to heartache laden songstress in the hook filled whispery chorus’. The song sticks in your head like a true pop song should and Waterfall is what pop music should sound like. It’s further ingrained by the punchy and grinding beats and luminous synths that carry you through three and a half minutes of pop ecstasy.
The single also comes with a remix of the title track as well as the catchy b-side, Runaway.
An explosive and yearning number, Waterfall is a fantastic release for the singer who we are going to be hearing a lot more from over the next year.
