This week Australia played host to two of the most iconic comedy actresses to grace the small screen. Absolutely Fabulous troublemakers and fashionista’s Edina Monsoon and Patsy Stone – aka Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley – set their sights on Sydney’s State Theatre on Sunday night to welcome the release of the shows big screen debut, Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie.

The film is a glorious, big screen caper that reunites all of the original cast – and some very famous new faces – on a mad, hilarious dash from London to the Cote d’Azur.

Appropriate for their big screen debut, Edina Monsoon and Patsy Stone (Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley) are still oozing glitz and glamour, living the high life they are accustomed to; shopping, drinking and clubbing their way around London’s trendiest hotspots. But when they accidentally push Kate Moss into the river Thames at an uber fashionable launch party, Eddy and Patsy become entangled in a media storm surrounding the supermodel’s untimely demise and are relentlessly pursued by the paparazzi. Fleeing penniless to the glamorous playground of the super-rich, the French Riviera, they hatch a plan to make their escape permanent and live the high life forever more!

The Australian gala premiere screening was held on Sunday 31st July at the stunning State Theatre and Renowned For Sound were front row of the press pit snapping the stars of the film, as well as a myriad of local celebrities and some of Sydney’s finest drag performers, as they strutted the hot pink carpet of the glamorous event.
