Single Review: Professor Green feat. Miles Kane – ‘Are You Getting Enough?’

2 min read

While I have never been able to claim myself as being a fan of UK grime hip-hopper Professor Green, there have been a number of songs during his stint in the spotlight including early singles like ‘I Need You Tonight’ which sampled the famous INXS track of the same name, and various tracks within the stars debut album, that have stirred curiosity from within. My appreciation for the UK rap notable may be about to surge following a listen to the rappers latest single, the first from his forthcoming third studio release, Growing Up In Public.

ProfessorGreenAreYouGettingEnoughAre You Getting Enough? is a collaborative effort with Mile Kane at the songs chorus helm, propelling the hardcore heavy hit through a memorable few minutes of anthemic moments, catchy lyrics and a bold, grime laden musical backdrop that ticks all the right boxes in terms of chart-worthiness.

Previous singles from Professor Green have been given a much more brushed up, tweaked and pop coated production but this change of style and winning collaboration with Miles Kane, someone who knows his way around a hit having co-fronted The Last Shadow Puppets for the past few years and currently enjoying successful solo career of his own, seems to be a perfect fit to the rapper. Kane’s contribution to Are You Getting Enough? is welcomed as he ignites the chorus of the track with persuasion and angst, tearing the singles upbeat and busy structure to threads with his energetic vocals.

The track isn’t a bad way to begin the journey into Green’s highly anticipated return to music. Are you Getting Enough? is a well written, well produced summer smash for the UK star.
