2 min read

(UK) The BRIT Awards with MasterCard have today revealed the shortlist for the prestigious Critics’ Choice Award. James Bay, George The Poet and Years & Years are now set to do battle for this highly coveted prize, which identifies the best future British music stars.

George The Poet said “I feel privileged to have been shortlisted for the BRITs Critics’ Choice Award. I always dreamed of reaching people and this nomination shows me that I’m on track.”

The 2015 Critics’ Choice Award winner will be announced on Thursday 4th December. Past Critics’ Choice Winners:
2008 – Adele
2009 – Florence & The Machine
2010 – Ellie Goulding
2011 – Jessie J
2012 – Emeli Sandé
2013 – Tom Odell
2014 – Sam Smith

This December will see the release of George’s debut EP ‘The Chicken and the Egg EP’ (out on 1st December via PALM), and single ‘1,2,1,2’ (out 1st December on Island Records). ‘1,2,1,2’ is produced by upcoming house production duo Bodhi and follows on from their popular bootleg of George The Poet’s poetic ode to London ‘My City’. Further highlighting George’s ability to fuse dance floor friendly beats with street savvy verse and wordplay, ‘1,2,1,2’ is receiving heavy radio rotation having been added to Radio 1’s ‘In Music We Trust Playlist’ and picked up spins from the likes of Zane Lowe, Huw Stephens and Annie Mac, to name a few. Meanwhile George is busy in the studio working with a diverse range of producers – from Sly & Robbie and MJ Cole through to Steve Booker (John Newman) and Matthew Benbrook (Paolo Nutini) – on his debut album due for release via Island Records in the summer of 2015.
