News: Alabama Shakes Announce Additional Tour Dates

(US) Alabama Shakes will kick off the second leg of their North American tour on May 28 at the Fox Theatre in St. Louis, MO. The run will include shows at Hall’s Island in Minneapolis, MN (May 30) and Detroit’s Masonic Temple Theatre (June 3). Opening acts will include Father John Misty (May 28 – June 3), Strand of Oaks (June 9) and Courtney Barnett (June 10).

A ticket pre-sale for the newly announced headline dates will begin on Wednesday, March 4, at 12:00 PM local time. Click here for more details. Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning Friday, March 6.

The GRAMMY®-nominated bandwill perform on “Late Show with David Letterman” on Monday, March 9, and play a sold-out, two-night stand at New York City’s Beacon Theatre on March 11 and 12. Alabama Shakes will also be performing at many music festivals in 2015, including Coachella, Bonnaroo, Mountain Jam, Field Trip and Squamish as well as at Mumford & Sons’ Gentlemen of the Road stopover in Seaside Heights, NJ (June 5).

Alabama Shakes gave their new single, “Don’t Wanna Fight,” its network television premiere on “Saturday Night Live” this past weekend. They also performed “Gimme All Your Love,” another track from the band’s new album, Sound & Color, which ATO Records will release in North America on April 21. Rough Trade will release the album in the UK/Europe on April 20. Billboard named “Don’t Wanna Fight” as one of the best singles of the week upon its release, noting, “[Lead singer] Brittany Howard makes raw pain feel sensual.” NPR Music’s Ann Powers said, “This is the heart of soul music: transcendence intertwined with an unflagging sense of being in the thick of life, the sound of ordinary people heroically getting by.”

The pre-order for Sound & Color is underway now on iTunes, Amazon, the band’s website and the ATO Records webstore. Fans who pre-order the digital album will instantly receive “Don’t Wanna Fight” and “Gimme All Your Love.” Sound & Color can also be pre-ordered on either 180-gram vinyl or Limited Edition clear vinyl. Alabama Shakes co-produced Sound & Color with Blake Millsat Nashville’s Sound Emporium studio. Itisthe follow-up to their 2012 Gold-certified debut album, Boys & Girls, which earned the group three GRAMMY® nominations, including a nod for Best New Artist.
