Single Review: Kasabian – ‘Goodbye Kiss’

2 min read

Kasabian return this week with the latest single to be taken from the bands 2011 Velociraptor studio release. Goodbye Kiss is single number three and sees the band donning a more nineties Brit-pop sound for this latest laid back pop ditty.

KasabianGoodbyeKissDriven by an acoustic guitar and front man Tom Meighan’s love drunk vocals the band seem to be feeling rather musically nostalgic as they sound more like 1980’s britpop heavyweights Cast or Echo and the Bunnymen on Goodbye Kiss than they have sounded with any of their previous tracks. Thought the days of Britpop are just a distant memory to most, Kasabian relight the flame on the highly successful era of British music with the single, even if unintentionally. Goodbye Kiss sways beautifully through 3 minutes of engaging and memorable melodies, stunning production and grandeur instrumentation – strings, tambourines and all.

Where previous single Re-Wired was more of a punchy, gritty and upbeat release, Goodbye Kiss changes gears slightly and takes us on a journey through Kasabian’s more sensitive side.

Though the track is not Kasabian’s best release it is a lovely addition to a the growing catalogue of hits the band are quickly becoming international recognized for unleashing on the world and one that finds its place and nestles in nicely within Velociraptor.
